Princess Everleigh Clarkson of the Elven House Ethelia
Everleigh Clarkson is half-elf and half-fae, and it shows. Then again, it isn’t for most supernatural half-breeds. But that’s okay. Who needs magic when you live in a city as exciting as Las Vegas?
Magic, however, seems to have other plans. Not only have Everleigh’s parents gone missing, but a secret group of vigilante supernaturals is threatening all of Las Vegas–and they want to use Everleigh to do it.
Because Everleigh isn’t some magically stunted half-breed after all, it turns out. Everleigh is a wizard.
But saving her parents will require more than embracing the magic she once rejected. It will mean enlisting the help of an estranged childhood friend, Aithan Nomos–who also happens to be an elven prince.
A really, handsome, really annoying elven prince.
But if Everleigh can learn her craft – and she and Aithan Nomos can go five minutes without driving each other insane – they might just save her parents and her city after all.
Prince Aithan of the Elven House Nomos
Prince Aithan Nomos is the second-born grandson of High King Kostas of the ancient Nomos line, son of Prince Leon and Princess Ava, and younger brother of Crown Prince Alexander. Though he’s not in line for the crown, he has no lack of the power that causes the Nomos name to elicit shivers throughout the rest of the supernatural world.
Unfortunately, when Aithan was still small, his grandfather chose to punish Aithan’s father for his abdication by pronouncing a curse upon both Aithan and his older brother. Because of this, Aithan has kept himself emotionally cut off from the rest of the world, determined to keep himself and those around him safe from his grandfather’s vengeance. Perfect solitude, however, is impossible, for he knows that one day he will be called in to keep his Binding Oath to protect the world’s only wizard–Everleigh Clarkson.
Also unfortunate for him is that Everleigh Clarkson might be the one soul who can weasel her way not only into his life… but into his heart. And if she does, the chaos that will ensue will be the ground shaking kind.
Prince Nikos of the Elven House Ethelia & Princess Erin of the Fae House Gallagher
Prince Nikos and Princess Erin are the ultimate rebels in the supernatural world. Supernaturals don’t mix in marriage. And royals especially don’t mix. But the Clarksons did, and the child that came from such a union rocked the world. Instead of having an Anikos – a useless supernatural with little power and even less control – they had Erin, the world’s only living wizard.
But being a wizard’s parents is not for the faint of heart. Thankfully, the Clarksons are up for such a challenge. After leaving the supernatural courts behind, they joined the local human police force and eventually became detectives. Not only does the job provide them more resources with which to protect their daughter, but it also allows them to keep their finger on the goings-on of the underworld – human and magical.
Prince Leon of the Elven House Nomos & Princess Ava of the Elven House Ati
Best friends of the Clarksons, Prince Leon abdicated his throne when he heard of Everleigh’s true identity, taking his wife, Princess Ava, and their two sons, Alexander and Aithan into the Las Vegas suburbs with him. From there, they helped create a secret network of protection for the little wizard before she was even born. And they’ve been watching over her since, knowing the fate of the world lies in the girl’s hands.
Crown Prince Alexander of the Elven House Nomos
Prince Alexander Nomos remembers more of court life than his younger brother, Aithan. He’s also hyperaware of the dangers that surround his loved ones. So when he was old enough he sacrificed himself by returning to the courts to work undercover for his grandfather as a secret agent. The work was dangerous and lonely, but Alexander knew it was the only way to find the information he needed to keep young Everleigh and the rest of his family safe.
But Alexander isn’t without his own problems. Like Aithan, his grandfather proclaimed a curse over him when he was small, and though it hasn’t taken full effect yet, Alexander knows it’s just a matter of time. And if he falls…
There’s a good chance he’ll take the world down with him.
Crown Prince Finnegin of the Fae House Gallagher
Prince Finn is Princess Erin’s older brother and crown prince of the Gallagher line. Unfortunately for the Gallagher line, Finn has little desire to live as an active participant in the fae courts and even less of a desire to rule over them. He would rather spend his days selling books and promoting literacy in the fae world using his human degree of library science.
A choice which signals to the entire supernatural world that he is indeed mad.
Fortunately for them all, his father, King Daniil, is still in good health. This means Finn is free not only to pursue his quaint love of books but also to help with the secret caretaking and protection of his sister’s only child. But Finn doesn’t mind this in the slightest. He’d rather be the “funcle” than a king anytime.
High King Kostas of the Elven House Nomos
High King Kostas of the Elven House Nomos lives up to the name of his forefathers by maintaining the ability to drive fear into the hearts of all who hear his name. Even more deadly is his ability to maintain order not only within the supernatural world, but to do so seamlessly under the noses of the human authorities – and to manipulate them into going along with his plans. For he not only holds the ancient power of the Nomos line, a particular brand of elven magic that is excessively strong, but he also has the mind of a true politician. And he will get his way by wielding both honey and the hammer.
What he didn’t count on, however, was the rogue offspring of his son’s best friend. When the girl was born, he believed her to be nothing more than a worthless Anikos, and he kept an eye on her purely out of spite. But when she announced herself to be none other than the only living wizard, he realized he had to play a different game. For surely she could serve him better as a minion than in his dungeons.
What he didn’t count on, however, was the young wizard’s resourcefulness – nor that of his own grandson. And with each passing week, he begins to understand that together, they can either build him a rule like the elves have never seen before…
Or they can tear his kingdom to the ground.
Lady Priscilla of the Elven House Ethelia
Lady Priscilla of the elven House Nomos is an adopted cousin of the Nomos clan. She serves as King Kostas’s personal assistant and keeps his personal business running like a clock. Never without her trusty tablet and stylus, she’s not only excellent with administration, she’s also handy to have in a tight spot… like when you might need help blackmailing the enemy. Armed with her beauty, sharp mind, and excellent ability to handle magic, she’s ready to take on any challenge – including her cousin Aithan, when he’s being a grump.
Miss Lillian Nomos
Like Priscilla, Miss Lillian is a distant cousin of the king. And while she moved from Ireland to the king’s house in Las Vegas when she was young, she’s never lost her love of her homeland or her gentle soul. She’s also one of the many who have been secretly watching out for Everleigh since she was born, as Miss Lillian followed Everleigh’s parents out of the courts and into the human world. Now, she works as a secretary for the Clarkson and Nomos’s police station, but in her off time, she also plays the adoptive mother to any who need her.
King Daniil of the Fae House Gallagher
King Daniil is nothing if not a politician. He knows how to play the political games required of him to protect his people and his family. As such, he was forced to let his eldest daughter, Erin, go from the courts when she did the unthinkable and married an elf prince for love. And when they had their child, he did his best to play the prideful fae patriarch, unwilling to stoop to the level that an Anikos grandchild might merit.
But King Daniil isn’t nearly as heartless or as ruthless as he might first appear. And when he thinks his granddaughter is in danger, he does the unthinkable by crossing the elven high king to protect her. But while protecting Everleigh will most definitely mean sacrifice, Daniil isn’t without a few tricks of his own…
Princess Fiadh of the Fae House Gallagher
Princess Fiadh of the Fae House Gallagher is Princess Erin’s younger sister and everything her older sister refused to be. Ruthless, ambitious, and malicious, Fiadh revels in making others fear her. So when her worthless niece ends up being the world’s first wizard, Fiadh must choose:
Ally herself with the brat?
Or destroy the girl before she ever knew what hit her.
Pre-Alpha Aaron of the Yousif Wolf Line
Aaron is a quiet soul, and after meeting Aithan Nomos in high school, he chose to hold the second-born prince (and the motley crew the prince seems to drag along behind him) nearly as dear as his own pack. Or as close as he can hold any non-pack members, at least. And while his werewolf abilities could have sent him great places in the human world of professional sports, he was all too aware of his duty to both his friends and his family to pursue a career like that.
Also, he’s the world’s biggest introvert. Having millions streaming his games live would have been the worst prize in the entire world.
In spite of his quiet ways, however, Aaron hides one of the most powerful shifter pedigrees on the planet. Firstborn of the infamous Alpha Isaac Black, Aaron’s blood flows with the magic more than double that of not only most werewolves, but most shifters. Aaron would never flaunt this, of course. But he knows there will likely be a day when the world will learn how truly powerful he is.
He just hopes and prays that day never comes.
Other Characters
Soo Min Song
Soo Min is a fae like no other. Like any typical fae, she has very little attraction or affection for the average human. But unlike most fae, she has a great dislike of her own people as well. Her favorite t-shirt is one that says, “Oh, no… People.”
She thought about going to college, but to the horror of her father, decided against it in the end, choosing instead to work at the family boba shop across from the university.
She was also dragged into the motley protection detail organized for the new wizard, Eveleigh Clarkson. Of course, Everleigh is no stranger to Soo Min. The girls have known each other since they were little, as their parents were acquaintances before they were born. But with Soo Min’s aversion to… well, everyone, it shocks everyone who knows her when she volunteers to help protect Everleigh. And though Aithan has a sneaking suspicion that it’s because of the way her mother died when she was little, he values his life far too much to ask. If Everleigh’s parents are okay with her joining the team, he has to be okay with that as well.
He could just do without ninety-percent of her daily dose of sarcasm.
But Aithan isn’t the only one who’s curious. Soo Min surprises herself when she becomes nearly as attached to Everleigh as her best friend, Julia, and it’s soon clear that while it would be stupid to mess with Soo Min herself, it would be a death with to mess with the wizard she protects.
Christian of the Golden Flame
On the sliding scale of cool points, Christian is an absolute square. He and the Clarksons met at church, and the second they asked him to join Everleigh’s secret protection circle, he agreed and never looked back. A by-the-book firearms instructor by day and the world’s biggest nerd at night, he may be, but he’s also the guy you want beside you in the heat of battle. And heat he will provide, as he’s a phoenix shifter. He’ll never toot his own horn when it comes to his abilities, though. He won’t have to. He’ll be lighting up the straight-and-narrow for everyone else to see.
Jamie Rivera
Jamie is perhaps the rarest of the supernaturals who make up Everleigh’s protective circle. One of the rare and elusive chupacabra shifters, he was found wandering alone as a small child without any knowledge of who he was or where he belonged. Fortunately for him, the werewolf couple who discovered him went on to raise him as one of their own and kept him from destroying the city as he probably would have eventually managed to do alone.
Much to Everleigh’s confusion, Jamie and Aithan became best friends in college despite being polar opposites, and that friendship has since remained. Where Aithan brings all the cool, sharp edges of elven power to the friendship, Jamie has what Everleigh deems “Husky dog” energy with his enthusiasm and joy. No matter the size, he not only fills the space around him but seems to also find his way into other people’s space as well. But Jamie’s past holds many secrets that not even he can fully ignore, which might make his future even more interesting than he prefers it to be.
Dorian Atwood of the Alaric Sireline
No one knows exactly how old Dorian Atwood is. His phenomenal self-control and beautiful accent, as well as his insistance on keeping time by tea has fooled many an experienced supernatural into a false sense of security. But this vampire is not an enemy you want to make. Fortunately for Everleigh, in spite of his polish and self-control, he can’t completely deny his vampire nature. For that possessive nature views his friends very much as his. And Heaven help the creature who tries to deny him what he has claimed.
Maverick Thompson
The best friend of the last late wizard, Maverick Thompson is from the south, and he comes bearing an appropriate desire for sweet tea and a handful of “bless yours hearts.” He’s also selfish and crotchety to boot. But beneath all his bluster and complaining, this fae might do what no other teacher has managed to do before…
Teach the wizard to wield her magic.
Cara of the Fae House O’Brian
Cara is about the sweetest fae in existence. Orphaned at a young age, she lives with her grandmother and does her best to contribute to her keep. She also owns a handmade jewelry business, and while she’s not excessively talented at charming her creations, she’s had the unfortunate fate of crossing paths with Pandora’s Key, resulting in being cursed wtih a poorly done memory charm that has partially erased her memories of that day. But she hasn’t let that stop her, and when she gets the chance to help the Key’s enemies, she jumps at the chance head first… ignoring the dangers that might result from it.
Georgios Flavel
Georgios Flavel is a college friend of Everleigh and Julia’s. And though he appears an innocent human bystander, there might be more to him than meets the eye. The son of a prominent seer, Georgie isn’t nearly as talented as his father with his ability to “see,” but he is clever. And in that cleverness, he has managed to wiggle his way into a future that he believes could lead to the fulfillment of his every dream.
For everyone else, though, it’s the makings of a nightmare.
Dr. (Professor) Benedict Petras
Dr. Benedict Petras is a prodigy in both the human world and the supernatural. Everleigh and Julia have a running bet that he’s no older than twenty-five, and that he just dresses like he’s fifty in order to keep the over-enthusiastic female students at bay. (Unfortunately for him, it’s not working.) Because of his… unusual abilities, he’s sought by the highest of supernatural race representatives as a consultant for all kinds of mysteries. But Ben is no stranger to the dangers that come with being a seer, and while he strives to use his unusual abilities for good, he knows just the kind of mischief that will appear if he lets his own hopes and dreams run wild…
Dr. Dubois
Dr. Dubois is a rather unusual fae. But then again, he’s a highly specialized doctor, and one who immediately recognizes Everleigh for her cleverness. So it only stands to reason that he’s probably not quite like most fae in other ways as well. When he’s not visiting Las Vegas to help with magical research, he’s at home in Canada, where he both teaches and works at the laboratory in one of the supernatural universities.
Stefano Amato
Stefano Amato is no ordinary vampire. His groundbreaking research in alternative food sources for vampires (as well as his local cranberry juice company) has turned him into a celebrated business mogul and entrepreneur. Bus his story is not a happy one, and though he knows how to turn on the charm for humans and supernaturals (which includes having a most beautiful hint of an Italian accent, according to Everleigh), Mr. Amato has been denied what he wants most in the world. And he’s not sure he will ever get it.
The Humans
Julia Mayburn
Julia never meant to get dragged into the supernatural world and adopted as a slave / pet. Of course, her best friend, Everleigh, never meant for that to happen either. But it’s nearly impossible for a human to dance on the cusp of the supernatural without getting sucked in, and after being Everleigh’s best friend for nearly a decade, Julia’s descent into the world of magic really came as no surprise. What is a surprise, however, is Julia’s ability to not only survive the supernatural world… but even to thrive.
Chief
Chief had no idea what he was getting into when he became supervisor over the Clarkson and Nomos couples for the local Las Vegas police department. Of course, no one can deny that the two couples – who also happen to be best friends – are unusual in both their methods and their hiring. In fact, he’s pretty sure married couples aren’t supposed to be placed as partners, and he’s nearly just as sure that childhood friends aren’t supposed to work side-by-side for decades either. But they get the job done, so he tends to look the other way.
Until he can’t. Especially when their sweet daughter gets involved…
Keep checking back in to get to know more characters (and to get to know some of these characters even more)! This list will be growing as Everleigh and Aithan’s adventures do!
