Hi, everyone! I’m so thrilled to be here for Brittany’s Once Upon 2026!
I have been addicted to reading since I first learned how. I’ve carried books with me everywhere . . . to sports games (professional sports games required two books!), school, bus rides and car trips, and even when my parents told me to “go outside and play.” I find time for reading now by doing most of it on my Kindle app, which means that I can read while walking down the stairs, waiting in line, making dinner . . .
I love to read fantasy and fairy tale interpretations, Agatha Christie’s mysteries, romantic suspense/action, and variations of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice.
A stay-at-home mom, I homeschool my six children, ages eight through nineteen (which means that I have four teenagers at once!). I’m constantly asked, “How do you find time to write?” The answer is simply that you find the time to do the things you love. Also, getting the laundry put away is highly overrated.
Choose Your Own Fairytale Adventure
It’s your turn to star in a fairytale of your choosing! Just start reading from the beginning, and every time you get to a choice, click on the one you want. You can go back and choose a different choice if you change your mind, and once you get to the end, you can start over and try a new path!
There are eight fairytales and numerous paths through each one, so I hope you have fun!
This link will open in a separate window so that you do not loose your place in the Once Upon event pages.
Tested: A Princess and the Pea Retelling
The idea of a princess test has always been one of my favorite ideas to play around with. There are so many reasons that a prince, his parents, or his country might choose to test possible brides before choosing the prince’s bride. I had a lot of fun adding a twist of sabotage and threat to my story Tested: A Princess and the Pea Retelling. You can get it for free here!
Her only chance at escape is to win the hand of the prince—but her loathsome suitor will do whatever it takes to see her fail.
Aine has one goal: to protect the land and its inhabitants from the negligence of her father. However, her aspirations are threatened when her parents scheme to barter her off to a neighboring lord. The Queen’s invitation to compete in a contest to determine the prince’s bride arrives just in time.
Prince Rian, ensnared by a curse demanding he win the affection of the “perfect princess” before his twenty-first birthday, grapples with dwindling prospects and fading optimism. With scant months remaining, his ambitions have narrowed to a single hope: to enact even the slightest improvement on the world—or at least his country—before his death.
As Aine faces the queen’s tests, fate entwines her destiny with Rian’s. Unfortunately, the determined Lord Cleirigh will stop at nothing to thwart her success.
